Working
Like A Dog
These canine co-workers get to go to the office
with their owners, employees of Mars Petcare in Fort Smith. Read
about their daily grind in the new March issue of Entertainment
Fort Smith magazine.
Perks? Good dogs get to be taste-testers for Cesar Canine Cuisine
products made at this $80 million, green facility, the first sustainable
pet manufacturing plant in the world. Mars Petcare office staff

Bringing Art to the People
What if you arrived at your
workplace to find an art exhibit? The Fort Smith Art Center,
while still open several days at week in the Belle Grove Historic
District, is bringing a second exhibition to the corporate headquarters
of Golden Living. The public is invited to enjoy the paintings
and photographs on display there in March from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
through March.
Paintings by Martin Peerson and photographs
by Ray Wallace will be exhibited. Learn more about the Art Center's
transition to a new facility at 1601 Rogers Avenue at www.fortsmithartcenter.org.
Music & Performance

Foster. Hear a classical
pipe organ recital. Swing with the Glenn
Miller Orchestra. Get your kicks on Route
66. Take in the timeless farce, Tartuffe.
March
is teeming with entertainment in our Music & Performance
calendar.
The same comprehensive calendar of events
found in our magazine is available online. Click on any date

Who
was Bass Reeves? A century
after his death, the life of an African American deputy U.S. Marshal
intrigues historians. In December's eFortSmith, a special series
looks at Reeves with his great-nephew, one of his biographers and
the historian of the U.S. Marshals Service. Upcoming history seminars
and exhibits will help to flesh out a fuller picture. Reeves, a
former slave, spent 32 years fully vested with law enforcement powers
to serve the federal court of Judge Isaac C. Parker in Arkansas
and the Indian Territory. His reputation for integrity and for capturing
criminals endures. |

Citizen Soldiers and their Families
In November, eFortSmith had a feature section about three
local families who are living with a family member home from war,
preparing to deploy or on active duty.
We're a Blue Star staff
Four people in active duty are relatives of members of our magazine
staff. Send us photos of servicemen and servicewomen
who are your relatives or friends and we will recognize them,
as well.
Remembering
Paula
Linda
Seubold recalls dear family friend Paula Winston Reed, who survived
her deployment to Iraq but was beginning to overcome the effects
of post-traumatic stress when she died in 2008.
