Execution Program: The Executions of John Echols, James Lamb, Albert O'Dell and John StephensJanuary 28, 2017

Fort Smith National Historic Site Volunteer John Hagen will present an interpretive program on the history of the men executed on January 14, 1887 of John Echols, James Lamb, Albert O'Dell, and John Stephens. The story of those executed tell the story not only of the crimes that got them there, it sheds light upon the men and women who helped to enforce federal law inside of Indian Territory and the history of the federal court in Fort Smith. This program will take you from inside the historic courtroom and weather pending, out to the gallows.
