Community Outreach Meeting

February 23, 2017
6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Today, there are more than750 children in foster care in Sebastian County. There are 94 approved foster homes. That means 90% of the children from Sebastian County are placed in group homes, shelters, facilities or foster homes outside of Sebastian County. These children are removed from everything and everyone they know when this happens. Not only are they removed from their homes, but also from their schools, friends, activities and everything that they know. ARCCC, Arkansas Creating Connections for Children, is an initiative of DHS/Division of Children and Family Services. The primary goal is to develop a network of foster families that is more neighborhood based, culturally sensitive, and located in the communities of where children entering foster care live and will work to support reunification efforts. I would like to personally invite you to consider attending the initial informational and planning meeting to discuss the needs for foster parenting in Sebastian County. This meeting is to provide the community with an understanding of the needs for foster families in the area. You will not be obligated to become a foster parent, but perhaps you will be able to aid in the development of a committee and volunteers to help the 750 foster children in Sebastian County.

Admission: $0.00
