30th Annual Family Kite Flite Day at Spiro MoundsMarch 18, 2017
9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
This great family kite flying event is held at the only prehistoric, Native American, archaeological site open to the public in Oklahoma. Fly kites and enjoy the end of winter and beginning of spring at the beautiful and interesting Spiro Mounds Archaeological Center. Take your own kite or make a sled kite at the event. Donated kites will be given away hourly and professional kiters will demonstrate their skills all day with fancy kites. For kids there is a treasure sandbox with shells and coins to keep and a bubble making pond. Arts and craft and food booths will be open. Archaeologist Dennis Peterson will lead a short guided tour of the site at 2 p.m.
