Archaeologist Dennis Peterson will lead three two-hour, one-mile walks and talk about the Spiro Mounds, how and why they were created and how this prehistoric Caddoan Native American group was able to control over two thirds of the United States area for over 350 years. He will also talk about why some of the mounds line up with the solstice and equinox sunsets. Reservations are not required except for large groups. Admission and walk fees will be charged although Oklahoma Historical Society and Spiro Mounds Development Association members get free admission. Cash or check only.
