Chopin in Vienna

March 13, 2018
7:30 p.m.

Frédéric Chopin’s (1810-1849) Ballade in G minor, Opus 23 a piano piece made famous in the 2002 film “The Pianist,” will be the subject of a performance-lecture by Dr. Stephen Husarik. Re-tracing Chopin’s steps in Vienna when he composed the early draft of this composition, Husarik will then re-tell the story of Chopin's later life in Paris. Chopin’s visit to the Conrad Graf piano factory in Vienna will be compared to a similar trip taken by music department representatives of UAFS in 1996 to the Steinway and Sons factory in New York to purchase the concert grand piano used in this evening's performance of Chopin’s Ballade. This concert is free and open to the public.

Admission: Free.
