Fort Smith Mayor's 4th of July Celebration

July 4, 2018
5:00 p.m.

Name an event that draws more Fort Smithians together than the spectacular annual 4th of July Celebration on the riverfront. Harry E. Kelley River Park is always filled edge-to-edge with friends and families for the city's traditional patriotic party. Take blankets, lawn chairs and food to turn it into an evening picnic. The most fun is being inside the park to enjoy the music and the sight of sparkling reflections of the fireworks playing across the surface of Arkansas River. Free downtown parking and free shuttle service on Fort Smith Transit buses will take crowds to the park. At 5 p.m., music begins on the Donald W. Reynolds Stage. The Boss Tweeds perform first, followed by a program of popular and traditional patriotic music by the River Valley Community Band. Then, the perennially popular party band Mr. Cabbagehead and the Screaming Radishes will entertain. The professional fireworks display begins at 9:30 p.m. or dark. Traditionally, the Cabbageheads return to the stage to play more fun dance music as the crowds head for home. No alcohol or personal fireworks are permitted.

Admission: Free.
