The Western District: Brandon Goldsmith will be on hand to share with us the story behind his play. Come learn more about this interesting time in early Fort Smith history. On May 8th 1871, the Western District Court of Arkansas was moved from Van Buren to the location famously known as Fort Smith’s “Hole in the Wall” saloon, a location currently occupied by 21 West End. During the course of only fourteen months and 20 days it becomes the most corrupt courthouse in the entire United States. The Western District covers that period revealing the true story behind the founding of First National Bank and the real reasons why Judge Isaac Parker comes to Fort Smith.

Admission: $10. Free for FSHF members.
