Day to Day fun in youth organizations all summer

Many local youth organizations are open all summer long, offering a wealth of recreational programs to keep kids active and engaged while school is not in session.

Fort Smith Boys & Girls Clubs www.fsbgc.org
Who: Boys and girls ages 6-18
What: Arts and crafts, summer exploring field trips, softball, bowling, skating, baseball, movie time, gym and game room fun, and other recreational activities are among the offerings. Participants also will have the opportunity to take part in the Marilyn Foster Poetry Contest, Kiwanis Summer Camp, MusicFest, bicycle and fire safety classes, robotics demonstrations and more. Free breakfast and lunch will be served each day at all four units. Participants must pay a one-time, $18 summer activity fee and have a current $10 club membership card. fsbgc.org

Who: Girls ages 5-18
What: Girls Inc. continues its mission of helping girls "Be Strong, Smart and Bold" by providing summer educational programming. Focuses include economic literacy, technology, science, math, media literacy, arts & crafts, cooking, swimming, community services opportunities, out-of-center trips and other fun activities. Girls can attend each weekday throughout the summer. In addition to in-house activities, Girls Inc. offers participants the opportunity to take part in programs with local partner organizations, including First Tee, First Serve, Girl Scouts and Western Arkansas Ballet. A weekly softball program will be available for girls in third grade and older. Breakfast and lunch are included. Girls must have a current membership ($25 for 2015) to participate. Summer program cost is $150, with additional fees applied for other programs.

Who: Boys and girls ages 6-18
What: A busy summer of activities will include art, technology, games, sports, field trips and character-building programs such as SMART Girls and Passport to Manhood. What: Local youth will have the chance to take part in fun activities and programs that will include special guests, events and assemblies. Each week will be themed with focuses on livestock, art, internet safety, history, reading and more. Special "Teen Nights," demos and field trips also will be offered. Participants must have a $25 membership. Cost is $100 for the summer. A full breakfast will be served, as well as a full lunch until 2 p.m. 479-632-2070
