Steel Horse Rally Rides Again April 29-30

Steel Horse Rally Rides Again April 29-30
Surrender, citizens! Thousands of motorcycles will roar into downtown Fort Smith April 29-30. The good news is, they're coming for fun and a good cause.

The Steel Horse Rally was launched successfully last year as a full-on invasion of two-wheel enthusiasts. Over two days, the rally will offer spectacle, concerts, exhibits, contests, a downtown parade, vendors and camaraderie.

The festival's creator, Dennis Snow, is twice as excited and 100 percent less nervous about this second time around and has geared up its features accordingly. Garrison Avenue and the Fort Smith Convention Center will be the nucleus for all rally events. A parade of thousands of bikes on Garrison Avenue at 3 p.m. is the high point of the weekend. It may last several hours due to the expected attendance. Everyone is invited to ride or watch the Thunder Through the Valley parade from the sidewalk.

Proceeds from the rally will be donated to local charities. This year's beneficiaries are the Hannah House, Earthbound Angels, the Children's Emergency Shelter's Independent Living Program, the Fort Smith Museum of History and the Gregory Kistler Treatment Center.
