Sweet, summertime music
Local students will have the chance to make lots of sweet, summertime music. Special classes, private lessons, theater training and a number of band camps are offered for musicians of all ages.

UAFS Academy Camps Academy of the Arts Music Lessons
Who: Ages 3 and up
What: Private music lessons available in piano, wind, brass, percussion and string instruments, as well as voice lessons. Five- and 10-week options are available for 30-, 45- or 60-minute weekly lessons. Fees vary by length of session. Lesson times are scheduled at student’s convenience.
When: Through Aug. 5
Who: Ages birth to 5
What: The camp is an introduction to music for children with developmentally appropriate activities for each age group. Classes include "My Musical World" for birth to age 2; "Cycle of Seasons – Summertime" for ages 3-4; and "All Together Now" for birth to age 4. Caregiver must attend each class with student. Fee is $75.

Musical Theater Performance Camp Broadway Bootcamp
Who: Grades 7-12
What: An intensive week of musical theater featuring students performing their favorite Broadway musicals. Every student will receive one-on-one lessons from faculty and have the chance to participate in a masterclass with a guest instructor. A final performance will take place at 6 p.m. June 24. Cost is $200 and includes a T-shirt. When: 1-5 p.m. June 20-24
Where: UAFS Blue Lion, 101 North 2nd Street, Fort Smith
Who: Grades 3-9 What: Explore tunes from some of Broadway's most popular shows. Instructors will introduce students to a wide variety of musical theater elements, including singing technique, acting & character development, showmanship, dance & choreography and more. Tuition is $250 and includes a T-shirt. Participants will meet daily at UAFS, and the camp will finish with a finale performance at 1 p.m. July 23. When: July 18-22, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Who: Grades 1-2
What: An introductory musical theater camp that explores a number of popular stage tunes. Fee is $175 and includes a free T-shirt. A finale performance will be 1 p.m. July 16.

UAFS Band Camps
High School Band Camp
Who: Wind, symphonic and percussion musicians, grades 8-12
What: Dr. Alexandra Zacharella will serve as conductor at the UAFS Band Camp for musicians of wind, symphonic and percussion band instruments. Students must provide their own instruments, except percussion. The fee is $190 (includes lunch) for commuters and $385 for residents. The final concert will 6 p.m. July 1.
When: 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday, 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. Tuesday-Friday June 27-July 1

High School Jazz Band Camp
Who: Musicians of all instruments, grades 9-12
What: Open to musicians of all instruments, students will spend a week in jazz orchestra rehearsals, playing in jazz improv sessions and taking classes in music theory, listening skills, and songwriting. Students must provide their own instruments (excluding piano and drums). Cost is $190, includes lunch and T-shirt, for commuters and $385 for residents.
When: 9 a.m.-3 p.m. June 13-17. Final concert will be 6 p.m. June 17.
