Join the Artillery
What: BOOM! The roar of the cannon excites some and would be scary to others but if you join the artillery at Fort Smith National Historic Site we'll have a great time learning about a exciting job! Come join us and learn about each of the positions on the cannon, their equipment, things about the soldiers themselves, and how to load and fire a real cannon! (Sorry, we can't let you actually shoot it!) Come join the artillery!
What: Choosing the location of the first fort at Belle Point set into motion a series of events that defined the unfolding history of Fort Smith for generations into the future. Children will take part in a scavenger hunt at the first fort and identify key features of why the location was chosen.
When: 10 a.m. June 5
What: You didn’t know that fish left prints?! Well they will if you join us to color and paint with the many different fish patterns that we have! Make your own colorful fish to take home and have some great hands on time with park rangers and other kids!
When: 10 a.m. June 16
What: Goldielocks is on trial for eating food and coming into a home that was not hers. Come sit inside the historic courtroom, role play the trial of Goldie Locks and learn more about the court system while having fun at the same time. Judge Parker presiding!
