Paintings by Anna Sue Wilcox

October 1, 2017 - October 31, 2017
9:00 a.m.

The paintings of Arkansas artist Anna Sue Wilcox will be on exhibit in the Community Room at the Main Library through the month of October. Anna Sue brings an investment to her body of work which spans space and time from Africa to Europe to the railroad tracks of 1930s Sallisaw. Her vision embraces the human experience, striving to convey the hearts of the people she portrays. People move her heart. People as they move and work and play and cry. The human experience is deeply stirring and her desire is to convey a depth of emotion to the viewer. There is no greater satisfaction than to know that a connection has been made between the painting and the individual experiencing it. Since childhood, her dream was to be an artist whose focus would be people. Addicted to the aroma of oils since age nine and largely self-taught, Wilcox also studied under Fort Smith artist John Bell Jr., from whom she drew a great deal of knowledge, encouragement and inspiration. Since the 1970s she has done commissioned portraits, and her work can be found in collections in Europe and throughout the United States. Artwork is available for viewing all library hours when meetings are not being held in the Community Room.
