Hurricane Grinch FlightersOctober 16, 2017 - December 23, 2017
Local U.S. Air Force Veteran and amateur swimmer & triathlete is undergoing a swimming challenge in hopes of raising funds for the Houston and Southeast Region of Toys For Tots. Most of the victims of the flooding and Hurricane Harvey have no flood insurance coverage and with the approaching Christmas Holidays, residents of the Houston Region of Texas may not have sufficient or any money to give their children a Christmas. Toys For Tots is one of the most top rated charities in which LESS than 3% of total funds raised goes to advertising and overhead. If you happen to see a person swimming at either Marvin Altman or Mercy Fitness Center pools wearing a white swimming cap with the red train logo identifying as: "Toys For Tots," that is very likely a local Air Force Veteran undergoing a 215 Mile Swimming Challenge for Texas Toys For Tots! This amateur swimmer (along with 2 supporting friends in another state who are bicycling a 215 Mile Challenge of their own) will collect pledges in monetary form based upon how much per mile. If a person would rather give a new, unwrapped toy instead of money, it will be accepted and shipped to the appropriate Toys For Tots coordinator in Texas. They have a Facebook page titled: "Hurricane Grinch Fighters" (in which, "Don't Let the Hurricanes be the Grinch this year in stealing Christmas!") and online donors will be directed to their fundraising page on toysfortots.org. So, please help a local veteran resident in raising money for Texas Toys For Tots! The Toys For Tots organization has their donation campaign run from October 1st through December 23rd.
