Authors in the Afternoon featuring Wayne Hancock

Fort Smith author Wayne Hancock will make a special appearance at the Fort Smith Public Library to promote and sign copies of his recently released book; The History of Retailing. Retailing has changed dramatically since the first F.W. Woolworth store opened in New York in 1879. Read about how Walmart evolved from a small Ben Franklin store to the largest retailer in the world, as well as the history of hundreds of other retail companies in this comprehensive history. A native of Missouri, Wayne Hancock now lives in Arkansas, where the 90-year-old author writes and publishes books. He is a WWII veteran, and a 40-year veteran of the retail business. He is also the founder and president of two book publishing companies, Hancock Press and Papertown Publishing, which are now actively managed by his daughter, K.C. Shay.
