CAE January Gallery Opening - Paintings in Wool by Wilma Hill

January 7, 2018
1:00 p.m.

To kick off 2018, The CAE Main Gallery will feature Paintings in Wool by Wilma Hill. Instead of using paint and brush, Wilma Hill uses dyed wool and traditional rug hooking techniques to produce realistic likenesses of her subjects. The Studio Gallery will feature Cause of Sight: a group exhibition that captures and celebrates everyday life. It features artwork from UAFS alumni, Bridget Duncan, Jarrod Cluck, and Kristen Teague, each of whom present their own perspective on an ever-changing world. Bridget Duncan focuses on the individual in her series, Glimpse. Her drawings present a real life look at everyday people and setups, in which habits and hobbies are apparent, but the struggles that go on behind the scenes are less so. As a Rudy native, Jarrod Cluck is connected to the land. The video project Pastoral Suite is a slow look into the relation between land, livestock, and the observer. In her work, Kristen Teague explores the balance between the intricate, the simple and the sublime in nature. Her macro-photographic technique aims to demonstrate the complex organic beauty in otherwise unassuming subjects. Bridget Duncan focuses on the individual in her series, Glimpse. Her drawings present a real life look at everyday people and setups, in which habits and hobbies are apparent, but the struggles that go on behind the scenes are less so. Bridgett Duncan will be teaching beginning art classes starting in January as part of the CAE afterschool and homeschool program.
