National Library Card Sign-up Month

September 1, 2018 - September 30, 2018
9:00 a.m.

September is National Library Card Sign-up Month. Libraries play an important role in the education and development of children. Studies show that children who are read to in the home and who use the library perform better in school and are more likely to continue to use the library as a source of lifetime learning. Visit your library today; it is a hub of community activity! If you don’t have a library card, this is the perfect time to apply. If you do have one, come and see what your library card can do! There’s no better place than the library to have fun . . . a place the whole family can enjoy. Visit your neighborhood library today and get a library card! All children who sign up for their first library card during Library Card Sign-up Month will receive a free paperback book, provided by the Friends of the Library. Teens and adults will receive a library goodie bag. Library cards are available free of charge to Fort Smith city residents age five and older. A parent or legal guardian must apply in person for children ages 5-15. Please bring identification with current street address, such as a driver’s license, bank check, or utility bill. For more information, call the main library at 783-0229.
