David Gates Exhibit and Opening Reception

1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

The Center For Art & Education will feature the abstract artwork of David Gates in the Main Gallery.  Gates has a passion for the abstract, expressive, surreal, modern and minimal. His artwork is often large and can envelop your perception, senses, and imagination. Each artwork has a distinctive personality and presence of power and emotion, which is in sync with Gates' belief that 'original paintings are like concerts…you really need to experience them.' In the Studio gallery, beautiful heirloom hand-made baby quilts by Joy Ross. Each quilt is paired with a story time book and each quilt tells a piece of the story. Inspired by the power of Linus’ quilt in the Charlie Brown cartoons, Joy believes reading to young children is vital to their success in school. These unique quilts speak of heritage, family, memories, and love and are destined to become a family heirloom for generations. Opening Reception from 1-4 p.m. Feb.3, wtih light refreshments and music by the YCME Chamber Strings. Exhibition continues through February 22nd. Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday-Friday.
